Have you ever wondered how celebrities get that chunky or piecey look at the ends of their hair? The good news is that the chunky look is fairly easy to acheive on hair - especially if you have layered hair. Separating the layers using the right product can go a long way toward giving you the piecey look. If your hair is not layered you can still add some "chunk" to it, the results just won't be as dramatic as if you had layers. Here is a quick how-to on getting chunky hair.

It is important to start with dry hair to create this look, so begin by blowdrying or air drying your hair the same way you usually do. Once you hair is totally dry you can get started adding the chunky pieces.

The key to this hairstyle is all in the product that you use on your hair. In order to separate the hair and get it to stay in pieces you need to use either a pomade or a hair wax. You can find pomade or wax at just about any department store or drugstore located with the other hair styling products. Look for a pomade that is formulated to work with your particular hair type to get the best results. For instance, if you have curly, thick hair you may need a heavier pomade than someone with light, thin hair.

To create the chunky look, start by rubbing a small amount of pomade or wax between your fingers. Use the pomade sparingly since if you add too much it will just weigh your hair down and make it look greasy instead of chunky. Use your fingers to separate your hair into random chunks. Starting about half way down each chunk of hair, pull the pomade down the length of the hair and give it a slight twist when you read the end to help it stick together. Avoid applying the product too close to your roots since again it can weigh the hair down or make it look greasy.
